Introduction

Hello!

First, my name is Hillari Morgan and I'm a junior at Husson University in the Elementary Education department. I have my associates degree from EMCC in education, and I am hoping to finish at Husson with my bachelors degree and a concentration in English. My husband and I own a home and we live with our 3 year old Great Dane, Sophie.

When I was asked to evaluate myself as a learner, it wasn't as easy as I had originally thought. I don't see myself as being only one type of learner, I am able to learn in a variety of fashions. I do however, learn best if I can do something myself. In that way I suppose I would label myself as most strongly, a kinesthetic learner. When I'm learning something new, whether it be for my current job or for school, I pick it up the fastest when I can do something "hands on".

When it comes to my school and work life, I am extremely organized. Everything in my work area has it's place and I can't concentrate if things aren't where they belong. My desk is typically always clean, except for the items that I'm actively using to complete my assignment. That isn't however, the case at home. My bedroom is a complete disaster most of the time (my husband can attest to this). My clothing is typically all over the floor and it's hard to tell whether or not our bedroom is carpeted. It seems so strange to me that I can be so diligent with my "business life" and so nonchalant with my home life. That's always baffled me.

My experience up until this point with technology has been ever expanding. Since I have my associates degree, I've worked in the classroom a lot and have had the privilege to experience many different technologies and programs that are used today. I've also taken a course through my own schooling on technology, although we primarily focused on Microsoft programs, such as, Word, Excel, and Power Point. I love learning about technology and really feel that it's so important for teachers to understand and utilize all types of technology within a classroom. Not only for exposure for your students, but also for your own knowledge and keeping up with the students that you teach!
